Gary J. Faerber, M.D.
Associate Professor of Urology
I completed my urologic training at the University of Michigan in 1989 and was invited to continue my academic career as a faculty member in the
Section of Urology at the University of Michigan. I am now an Associate
Professor in what has become the Department of Urology. I was acting chief of Urology at the Ann Arbor Veteran's Administration Hospital from 1989 through 1993.
I was elected to be the coordinator of the University of Michigan Urology
Residency Program in 1994 and am now
involved with resident education; which includes weekly Urology Grand Rounds, monthly journal club, textbook review courses, and invited lectureships from University of Michigan Medical Center faculty as well as faculty from other medical institutions.
I am an active member of the Endourological Society and was
elected to the Senate Committee of the Michigan Branch of the American Urological Association.
My clinical interests include the endourologic management of both adult and pediatric stone disease.
I have extensive expertise in
ureterosurgery, laser, ultrasonic and shock wave lithotripsy as well as percutaneous stone removal.
I also have expertise in using minimally invasive treatment modalities for ureteral strictures, kidney and ureteral tumors.
I, along, with Dr. Stuart Wolf, make up the faculty for the minimally invasive surgery program.
My other area of interest is in the treatment of urinary incontinence.
My focus has been on the use of injectable material as a minimally invasive technique to treat certain types of urinary incontinence.
I also have extensive experience in using implantable urinary sphincters for the treatment of urinary incontinence.
